Idgham Saghir is a recitation rule where a nasal consonant sound at the end of a word merges into the initial sound of the following word. This assimilation changes pronunciation but does not affect the meaning or grammatical structure of the involved words. The research applies a qualitative descriptive method by collecting data from selected verses of the Qur’an that illustrate the use of Idgham Saghir. The findings reveal that Idgham Saghir is a systematic phonological process characterized by regressive assimilation, where the first sound adapts to the second. Two primary categories are identified: Idgham with nasalization, which occurs when followed by nasal letters, and Idgham without nasalization, which occurs when followed by lateral consonants. These processes contribute to the smooth and rhythmic flow of recitation, enhancing its aesthetic quality while maintaining clarity. From a morphological perspective, the assimilation process does not alter the base form or grammatical role of the words. For example, in the phrase “min ya’mal,” the merging of sounds affects only pronunciation. The preposition and verb maintain their original structure and function in the sentence. In conclusion, Idgham Saghir reflects a balance between phonetic beauty and linguistic precision in Qur’anic recitation. Employing a qualitative method through library research, this study focuses on the comparison between the original Arabic text and its Indonesian translation. The analysis is conducted using established translation theories such as those proposed by Newmark, Nida &amp; Taber, and Molina &amp; Albir. Findings reveal that the translator applied various techniques including literal translation, modulation, transposition, explicitation, and cultural adaptation to ensure both semantic fidelity and cultural appropriateness. Certain terms in the source text—such as niqab, hijab, and sufur—possess deeply rooted cultural and religious meanings that cannot be directly translated without contextual consideration. The study highlights how translation is not merely a linguistic act but also a cultural negotiation process that involves ideological and social sensitivity. Moreover, the poetic and rhetorical nature of the original text adds another layer of complexity in rendering meaning across languages. In conclusion, the translation of religious-poetic texts requires a comprehensive understanding of both linguistic structure and sociocultural context. Mahfuzot, a collection of wise sayings in classical Arabic, carries deep moral values, cultural context, and rhetorical beauty. Literal translation methods often result in a loss of these aesthetic elements, rendering the translated text rigid and less emotionally engaging. Therefore, this study adopts a qualitative method using a library research approach. Primary data is taken from widely taught Mahfuzot texts, supported by translation theory and linguistic aesthetics. The analysis reveals that idiomatic translation not only preserves the intended meaning but also maintains the stylistic richness and poetic nuances embedded in the original expressions. Through idiomatic choices, the messages become more relatable and resonant for the target audience, particularly in the Indonesian context. Idiomatic translation allows for cultural and emotional equivalence, ensuring that the philosophical and ethical dimensions of the sayings are not lost. Hence, this study emphasizes the importance of aesthetic consideration in translating classical literary texts. The findings serve as both an academic contribution and a practical guideline for educators, translators, and students of Arabic literature.
