PERAN DAN KONTRIBUSI ILMU KALIGRAFI DALAM DUNIA ISLAM

Abstract

This paper discusses the role and contribution of calligraphy in the islamic world. The purpose of this study is to determine the role and contribution of calligraphy in the world, especially in islamic civilization. The method used is a qualitative method with data, journals and websites. The results of the research show that the roles and contributions in the islamic world can voice islamic revelation as well as describe the criticism of muslims against the divine message. With the knowledge of the art of calligraphy, humans are able to know the truth and reality of the almighty. Calligraphy is one of the Islamic arts that has received considerable attention from Muslims. It originated in places such as Mecca, Medina, Arbani, and Baghdad. Calligraphy played a major role in the development of Islamic civilization throughout the world. The expansion of Islamic power, the spread of Arabic, and the role of kings and the elite motivated and facilitated the development of calligraphy and influenced the development of science, especially during the Abbasid Caliphate.
