PENERAPAN TEKNIK DAN KUALITAS PENERJEMAHAN DALAM FILM KARTUN FAWAZ DAN NOURAH BAHASA ARAB : KAJIAN PADA SUBTITLE BAHASA INDONESIA

Abstract

This study aims to identify the translation techniques applied in the Indonesian subtitles of the animated film Fawaz and Nourah, as well as to evaluate the quality of the translations. The method applied in this research focuses on the dialogues found in the film. The theory of translation techniques proposed by Molina and Albir is used as a reference to classify the techniques employed. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques consisting of observation and note-taking methods. The results show that five out of eighteen translation techniques are used in the film’s subtitles, namely literal  translation, modulation, adaptation, transposition, and established equivalence, the quality of the translations is assessed based on three main aspects : accuracy, acceptability, and readability. In general, the Indonesian subtitles in Fawaz and Nourah have been translated quite well, as they are able to convey messages from the source language to the target language in a communicative manner and are understandable to the audience.
